Restorative Treatment
• Fillings
We offer tooth-colored (composite) fillings as well as silver fillings to restore tooth structure lost to decay or fracture
• Crowns and Bridges
Crowns are done when there is a significant amount of tooth structure missing due to fracture, decay or previous fillings. A crown fits over the remaining tooth, providing a strong protective and esthetic cover for the tooth. Crowns are made of a variety of materials from ceramic (tooth-colored) to full gold. We can discuss with you what material makes sense for the situation and what you would like to see esthetically.
Bridges are done to replace a missing tooth. The teeth in front and back of the space are prepared for crowns, and a fixed bridge is made by connecting the 2 crowns with a false tooth between them.
Implant Restorations
The placement of an implant to replace a missing tooth is done quite routinely today. An implant is a titanium fixture that is surgically placed in your jawbone and replaces the root of a missing tooth. We work with oral surgeons or periodontists who place the implant and then we attach an abutment and crown to the implant so that it functions like a normal tooth.
Dentures and Partials
Another way to replace missing teeth is to fabricate removable appliances, called dentures or removable partial dentures.
Cosmetic Veneers and Bonding
We offer cosmetic porcelain veneers and composite bonding to restore and enhance your smile. We also offer a product called Componeers, which are composite veneers that can be shaped, fitted and placed the same day. We are happy to do a free consult if you would like to know if you would be a good candidate for this type of veneer.
Teeth Whitening
Teeth whitening can be accomplished with several methods. Custom tray whitening is one of the most common ways to whiten teeth. Impressions are made of your teeth and models are made to fabricate clear plastic custom trays which hold the bleaching gel and enable you to bleach at home. This method generally provides long-lasting results and the ability to touch-up your teeth as needed.
Another method is in-office whitening. We use the product “Boost” by Opalescence. After placing a thin protective barrier over your gum tissue, a hydrogen peroxide gel is placed on your teeth and refreshed and monitored over a one hour appointment. You leave with a brighter smile and we send you home with trays to complete the process with home bleaching gel for optimal results.
Root Canals
When the nerve and blood vessels (pulp) of a tooth are compromised by deep decay, tooth fracture or previous extensive treatment, it is sometimes necessary to do root canal treatment to alleviate pain or treat infection. We will assess the problem and provide palliative treatment if needed and then refer you to an endodontist (root canal specialist) for evaluation and treatment. After the root canal is complete, you will return to us for an appropriate restoration to protect the tooth.
Extractions
We try to save teeth if it is possible and in the best interest of your health. Sometimes it is best and necessary to extract a tooth rather than save it and we can provide this treatment in our office in most cases or we can refer you to an oral surgeon for treatment. We work closely with many excellent oral surgeons in the area so that you may receive the best care possible.
Orthodontics
For minor tooth straightening, we offer a product called Clear Correct. It is a clear aligner therapy similar to Invisalign. Impressions of your upper and lower teeth are taken and a series of clear plastic aligners are made to apply gentle pressure to your teeth to accomplish proper alignment of the teeth. Aligners are worn for 3 weeks at a time and treatment can take 9-12 months depending on the patient and movement needed.
